Our Amazing Board

  • Brian Burkhardt

    Executive Director / Co-Founder/ Oliver’s Dad

OPP’s mission is to empower children with pediatric cancer through the power of patches. Our patches are so much more than pieces of material. Our patches reinforce hope, mend loneliness, and repair self doubt. Our patches represent support, compassion, and strength. Our patches are tokens of love, and are the symbols of our Warriors!

  • Trisha Brookbank

    CFO / Co-Founder / Oliver’s Mom

In 2022, our son Oliver was diagnosed with Leukemia. Being a “Covid Cancer Family” left us feeling isolated. Our family missed out on most of the therapeutic and social programming available for kids on a cancer journey. We felt the need to create our own support. Those circumstances led us to create the Oliver Patch Project and has allowed us to help hundreds of kids and their families. We’ve created a community of strength and empowerment because no one should walk this journey alone.

  • Gina Jeffries

    Board Chair

Initially, I was deeply touched my Oliver’s story and impressed by his resilience and how people rallied around him to support his journey. After seeing what emerged from his experience, and the impact that passing the story forward was having on pediatric cancer patients, I felt compelled to get involved. Oliver Patch Project sits at the intersections of art and community and helps imbue hope and positivity in the hearts of the children and families it touches. I’m grateful to be involved and contribute to pushing the mission further so that together we can impact as many lives as we possibly can.

  • Michael Chimento

    Vice President, Creative - RealPage

Oliver is family, and when I saw the opportunity to be able to support him and his passion for bringing a bit of joy and encouragement to kids battling cancer, it wasn’t a question of if I would be involved, only how. I’m proud to play a small role in bringing a smile to OPP warriors and supporting such a wonderful cause.

  • Haneen Abdella

Hematology Oncology Attending Physician at Nicklaus Children's Hospital & Kidz Medical Services

The unique feature of OPP is that it is more than a gift received or an event enjoyed. It is unique in that the child receives a badge for each step of the journey, each challenge face, each milestone achieved. It becomes a badge of courage, evidence of all that they have endured and overcome.

  • Paul Kotakis

    Founder, PÁIDIA Arts

Children bring so much joy into this world. When a child is facing something as terrifying as cancer, OPP is there to help lift them back up. A simple patch to mark a tough milestone can put a smile on the face of a child who really needs it.

  • Susan Lee

MEd, CCLS Camp Boggy Creek Statewide Recruitment Officer

Children with cancer become members of a community that shares kindness, joy and friendship during the difficult time of treatment. The OPP celebrates the bravery and individual journey of each young cancer survivor!
